There are many reasons why you should be wearing your sunglasses during the winter time, so if you already a sunglasses-wearing-person, there is no need to stop wearing them now.

With the cold air we have to endure during the winter, our eyes tense to get dry & watery, this will result in your eyes to itch en get irritated. Wearing sunglasses will reduce your eyes to get watery and less irritated. Especially if you wear contacts the cold air will leave your eyes dry and irritated, so don’t ever leave without your sunglasses, even if you think you don’t need them.

You already know that too much exposure to the UV rays from the sun can damage your skin in the long run, that’s why you use sunscreen to protect your skin. But what about your eyes, do you even think to protect your eyes from the UV rays the sun gives in the winter. Not wearing sunglasses in the winter can increase eye problems such as cataracts and corneal sunburns this can cause temporary vision loss. So, it’s important to wear sunglasses in the winter to prevent your eyes to get damaged.

During the fall & winter, the sun sits lower in the horizon, this results in bright sunlight reflecting on objects obstructing your view. When getting exposed to bright light it can cause you not to see what’s in front of you, it may take a few seconds before your view clear up again, this is what’s called, glare.
Wearing sunglasses reduces the glare making it much more comfortable for your eyes.

Sunglasses Reduce Headache and Eye strain

When there is too much light your pupils automatically constrict to prevent too much light to come in, and in dim light your pupils dilate to allow as much light to come in. When your eyes gets in contact with too much bright light, your pupils can not constrict enough, this makes you squint your eyes. Too much squinting and constriction of the eyes can lead to headache, eye strain and wrinkles.
Wearing your sunglasses reduce the amount of bright light that reaches the eyes.
